Genius Within CIC invite you to join our Blooming Genius Webinar at 10:30 a.m. on 14th October to celebrate Social Saturday, a national day of events and activities to promote the nation’s booming social enterprise sector.
Genius Within is a Sussex based social enterprise working across the UK working towards a future where all people with Specific Learning Difficulties / Neurodiversity will be able to maximise their potential and work to their strengths; where those with problems at work or in custody receive the diagnosis, coaching and support that they need.
In addition to our adult services, we are aware that many neurodiverse children operate under the radar of formal SEND services, either because they are camouflaging or because provision in their area is not available. We want to offer alternative support that is positive, affordable and orientated towards practical guidance rather than assigning labels. We want to empower children to communicate well, learn at their best and feel safe. We have a new approach to working with young people and to removing the barriers which hold them back and are working with children and their carers, schools and agencies to make the difference.
Blooming Genius is our newest venture and our offer incorporates:
- Positive assessment: a detailed cognitive assessment for children aged 7 + which places a particular focus on strengths and how these can support good achievement in school and high levels of self-efficacy.
This assessment also provides vocational and career pathways for 12-18 year olds, supporting students in securing their future happiness and success in the workplace.
- Cascade: a training package for parents, carers and professionals working with families, developed collaboratively by a group of educationalists and psychologists.
Through this innovative coaching based approach, participants learn to use a set of tools and models which form a new way of working and communicating with young people to explore issues, find solutions and impact sustainable, long-term change.
- Inside out: a whole school approach to managing the cognitive causes of behavioural difficulties; this applies to children with and without an EHCP, using Kit Messenger’s tried and tested ‘Empowerment ApproachTM’.
An adapted version of this training course has been produced for parents and carers providing home education. This can be provided on a 1:1 basis or as group training for home education networks.
We are taking part in Social Saturday to raise awareness of neurodiversity and offer support to all who need it. So many parents are stuck on long waiting lists, not knowing where to turn, with young people becoming de-motivated and disengaged. We want to shout about neurodiverse strengths, celebrate individual talents and offer hope.
